50Our take-out containers are built around one job: holding a full meal so it gets to the customer intact. Every container in this department has a hinged lid that folds shut and stays shut. You do not buy lids separately, and you do not hunt for the right fit. That is the whole point of a clamshell.
We make them in two materials. Sugarcane bagasse is what we use for most of the line. It is stiff, it handles heat, and it composts. Paperboard costs less and works fine for dry foods or short trips, but it will soften if you pack something wet or hot and let it sit. If your menu runs to saucy dishes or you need microwave-safe containers, choose the bagasse.
Size is where most people narrow it down. The 6 by 6 inch containers hold a sandwich or a small salad. The 8 by 8 inch size fits a full plate: an entrée with two sides, or a grain bowl that needs some room. We also sell an 8 by 8 inch version with a molded divider. Use that when you want to keep items separate on the way to the table. The compartment takes up space, so you get slightly less total volume than you would in the flat version.
Pack count matters for how you order. A 50-pack suits a food truck or a cafe that moves through containers at a moderate pace. A 200-pack is for a kitchen that burns through them by the sleeve. Buy the larger case if you have the storage and you know you will use them. It drops the cost per container considerably.
This department does not cover everything. If you need soup cups, portion pots, or flat lids for round containers, look in our Cups & Lids or Deli & Portion Containers sections. Those are made for liquids and small sides. Our take-out line is for solid food that needs to stay put.
